Frequently asked questions
When attending your Acupuncture appointment it’s best to dress in comfortable loose fitting clothing, this will allow your practitioner easy access to Acupuncture points.
During your session you may be required to remove clothing depending where you need to be treated.
We will provided plenty of towels and blankets to keep you covered up and warm.
The short answer is no — acupuncture does not hurt as much as you might think.
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin (about the width of a couple of human hairs) and are designed to be gentle and minimally invasive. Most people feel little to no pain during insertion. Instead, sensations are often described as mild tingling, light pressure, warmth, or a dull ache.
While some areas may feel slightly more sensitive than others, the overall experience is usually very comfortable — and many patients find it deeply relaxing, with some even falling asleep during their session

At the clinic, a 0.25mm needle is the generally the largest we use, with some of the finer needles smaller than the facial acupuncture needle shown below:

Yes, if you are covered for Acupuncture through your private health insurance, then you can claim the appointment straight after your session. This however doesn’t cover any prescribed products such as supplements or herbal medicines.
Unfortunately, we're unable to get HICAPS here for now, but it's a simple process to claim. We send you the invoice/receipt and you can make a claim manually through your fund. We can help you through this process at the clinic if needed.
Unfortunately, Chinese medicine and acupuncture is not covered by medicare and is not able to be used with a health care plan.
Each person is different when it comes to Acupuncture treatment, your practitioner will come up with an individualised plan depending on what they believe is the best way to treat your condition.
Acupuncture tends to be most effective with more regular treatments, this may mean weekly or fortnightly treatment until we have achieved the desired treatment outcome. After that, the practitioner may extend your appointments to 4-6 weekly to maintain the treatment outcome.
